When MySpace came out of the gate I made fun of it. A scaling social network site, running Cold Fusion, it was a disaster from the beginning. But it captured the world by storm, mostly because the only other true threat was Facebook. At the time Facebook was only open to those with a valid college email address, greatly limiting it’s base.

We all know what happened from there. What is really unknown is why the switch from MySpace to Facebook is occurring. I still can’t figure out where to find half the crap I am looking for in Facebook. And the contestant barrage of invites to crappy applications. But with the daily friend requests, you can see the service growing. Personally I feel MySpace was aiming at too young of a market. Facebook seems to be more accepting of all age ranges.

What the above graph shows is the vast change from MySpace to Facebook. And with MySpace only having one more big influx of funds coming, it is time to win back the audience or wither slowly away.
